Hill Fort, Kesroli

  • Great food, picturesque swimming pool and solitude, these are what Hill Fort Kesroli offers to you. If you are looking for adventure, go somewhere else.
  • Morning walks around the village and fields is possible. Hotel also offers bicycles to help you take a round.
  • Bhangarh and Abhineri are each an hour away although in different directions. You can go for them if you are staying for couple days.
Hill Fort Kesroli is a Neemrana property and inaccessible to outsiders. You need to book a room to even enter the premises which is on high grounds and not at all easy to reach. It was my birthday and so we decided to spend a night at the resort. The August sun was bright as we drove from Gurgaon to Kesroli near Alwar in two and half hours. We checked in and roamed around the property. While the entrance is a climb, the fort is an easy navigation with rooms on two levels.

The balconies were fascinating, overlooking the fort across the fields towards the hills. The rooms were cosy and individually separate. There were couple of rooms on first level accessible by a single stair with a common area. We got one such room and we loved it. In fact we spend a good part of evening there but only after swimming.

The giant swimming pool at the lower levels is a high point of the resort. Looking at the fort on one side and the hills on another side, the swimming pool was too tempting to resist. To add to it, beer was served at the side so you can take a dip and sip alternatively. The staff was vigilant to stop people from over drinking or even taking the beer inside the pool. There were only four families staying that day so the resort was almost to ourselves.

After a tiring yet refreshing swimming session we changed and watched the sun set. Dinner timings are fixed and even food is fixed. However the variety and taste just blew us apart. Served in traditional manner the whole set was placed in front of us. Since the resort is almost inaccessible, going for food outside is also inconvenient. However this was a treat of life and once done, we said many thanks to the serving staff.

While we settled for sleep, it was my birthday coming and so we blew a candle but slept early. At around two in the morning, both of us were awake with a thud of a noise. Observing around, we saw our almirah had opened by itself. In a lonely resort with few guests, it was freaking scary. We couldn't sleep before dawn and later when we inspected the almirah, it was on a loose joint which might have timed itself to open in the middle of night.

Thanks to the scary noise, we missed our morning plan of bicycling around the fort. Instead we were bombarded with another delectable round of food in complementary morning breakfast. We started at 11 back for home. On the way back  we visited Tijara Jain temple.
